So I wrote this song last summer filled with ambivalence about the state of the world, imbued it with my emotions around turning 40, and sat down one winter evening to get it on record. Kept the 4th take of vocals and guitar, layered some mandolin and guitar on top and finally feel ready to put this out into the world. Feels more optimistic of a song than it did this spring, and that the time is right for it.
After a long winter and spring feeling more and more pessimistic about the state of the world I had shelved it more or less, but the month of July reinvigorated me and restored the desire to share this song with a world it closely mirrors.
