Daring Coyotes was born under the high deserts winter moon in Joshua Tree as David Clark Carroll coaxed notes out of his mandolin to the howls of coyotes
A hard driving progressive bluegrass band founded by David Clark Carroll and frequently performing as a trio and occasionally as a quartet, 2019 saw Daring Coyotes hit stages all over Northern California culminating in a short tour along the Humboldt coast.
In 2021 David moved home to Massachusetts to be closer to family, and in November of 2021 released the album Odyssey of the Far West. Over the next two years Daring Coyotes has graced stages from Berkshire Busk’s Railroad St stage, Timberyard Brewing, Black Birch Vineyard, Bright Ideas Brewing, Northampton’s Summer on Strong music series and many more. He performs both solo and with various configurations of his string band.
Before moving back east David was an established bluegrass musician based in Nevada City, CA since 2010. He was a member of several traditional bluegrass bands such as the Public String Band, Spruce Moose, and the Blue Mountain Quartet, as well as having been a founding member of the dixieland/Western swing/jazz juggernaut Earles of Newtown. As well as having trod on stages from small town bars to the Vern’s Stage at the Grass Valley Father’s Day Bluegrass Festival, David also hosted open jams all over Nevada County and became heavily involved with the California Bluegrass Association as a regional director for Nevada County. They are a fantastic organization and David was deeply honored by this touching video tribute his successor Mei Lin Heirendt put together talking about his time with the CBA in the Sierra foothills.
